Large fight at Mesquite’s Town East Mall spurs shooter fears; police confirm no shooting

The Mesquite Police Department responded to multiple calls of a possible shooting at the Town East Mall at 5:18PM this evening.

When officers arrived, they were unable to locate any armed suspects or shooting victims. Further investigation revealed that there was a large fight involving 8-10 people involving tossed chairs and trash cans. Police believe these sounds spurred fears of an active shooter inside the mall.

Mall security cameras confirmed no active shooter. No shell casings or gunshot victims were located.

Town East Mall is back open, although some stores have chosen to close.
