Three people killed after vehicle vaults off bridge, hits warehouse, and catches fire in west Dallas

The Dallas Police Department is investigating a severe crash that occurred late last night in west Dallas that killed three people and critically hurt two others.

At around 11:40pm, Dallas police were called to the 300 block of W. Mockingbird Lane at the Westmoreland Road bridge over the Trinity River after a high speed crash involving two vehicles. Dallas Fire Rescue also responded to a possible structure fire in the area.

When emergency crews arrived, they located two vehicles with significant damage and both on fire.

Traffic investigators say the two vehicles were traveling northbound on Westmoreland Road at the high rate of speed when both collided, causing one of the vehicles to vault off the bridge guardrail and hit a nearby warehouse. The other vehicle lost control and hit two light poles. Both vehicles burst into flames.

Three people inside the car that vaulted off the bridge were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two people in the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
