One person killed in 13-vehicle crash on I-30 in Rowlett

The Rowlett Police Department is investigating a multi-vehicle accident that claimed the life of one person.

At around 6:04pm on Monday evening, multiple emergency responders from Rowlett Fire/EMS and Police were called to the scene along westbound Interstate 30 near Horizon Road and the Lake Ray Hubbard bridge.

Officers arrived and found 12 vehicles and one 18-wheeler involved in the collision. Scattered vehicles and heavy debris forced closure of all westbound lanes.

Paramedics transported one adult man to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.

Two other people were transported to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.

Westbound Interstate 30 was closed for approximately 5 hours while police investigated the scene.
