Elderly woman hit, killed by vehicle along busy Arlington roadway
The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred earlier this morning along a busy stretch of Turner Warnell Road in south Arlington.
At approximately 6:45am, Arlington firefighters, paramedics, and police were called to the intersection of Turner Warnell Road and Mazourka Drive near Summit High School after a woman was struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics pronounced the woman deceased on the scene.
Investigators say the 79-year-old woman, who lived a few houses down from where the accident occurred, was walking across Turner Warnell Road when the driver of a pickup truck hit her. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with Arlington police. At this time, no charges are expected.
Police say the woman did not have the right of way to walk across the road.
Turner Warnell Road was closed this morning between Tin Cup Drive and Walnut Creek Drive while police investigated the scene.
