Multiple people hurt after small plane crashes along I-20 near Weatherford

Multiple agencies including the Weatherford Fire Department, Hudson Oaks Police Department, Lifecare EMS, Texas Department of Public Safety, FAA, and more are investigating a plane crash in the area of Interstate 20 and Mikus Road.

Reports indicate the small aircraft when down around 7:00pm near the Parker County Airport-WEA. TxDOT cameras in the area show the aircraft overturned and tangled in power lines along the interstate service road west of Mikus Road.

Officials with DPS say the plane lost power for an unknown reason and crashed onto the north shoulder of I-20.

There were five people on board the aircraft, including children. All have been transported to local hospitals with injuries reported. Their conditions have not yet been released. Four ambulances from Lifecare EMS were called to the scene.

The crash sparked a small grass fire which firefighters were able to quickly contain.

The westbound I-20 service road is closed while law enforcement and transportation authorities investigate the scene. Expect activity for the next several hours.

Updates to follow.
