Speeding driver t-bones vehicle, kills man in west Arlington crash

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred Tuesday evening along W. Green Oaks Blvd just south of Arkansas Lane.

At 5:10pm, Arlington FD, Arlington PD, Arlington and Pantego EMS all responded to a two-vehicle crash on northbound Green Oaks Blvd at Lee Drive.

Officials say a passenger car occupied by two individuals was westbound on Lee Drive and attempted to turn left to go southbound on Green Oaks Blvd. A 45-year-old woman traveling at excessive speeds t-boned the passenger car as the driver made the turn.

The driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. He has been identified as a male in his 30’s. A passenger in the car, identified as a woman in her 20’s, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman who caused the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the woman was racing someone when the accident occurred. It was determined she was traveling at 80MPH on Green Oaks, which has a posted speed limit of 45MPH. She was racing a dark colored BMW that continued northbound on Green Oaks after the crash. Police are charging her with two counts of Racing on a Highway Causing Serious Bodily Injury or Death.

Green Oaks Blvd was closed for many hours as police investigated the scene.
