Auto Ped (Alvarado)
Early morning auto vs. pedestrian accident on I35W in Alvarado. CareFlite response. Details from the Alvarado PD Facebook page:
“At approximately 06:45am this morning, Alvarado Police and Fire responded to an auto accident on IH35W (northbound) at the south city limits (CR 107). A pickup had stopped on the right shoulder of the highway to re-secure a tarp covering the bed of the truck. The driver was outside of the truck, standing in the right hand lane, when he was struck by a passing vehicle. As the second vehicle tried to take evasive action, to avoid striking him, it struck the truck and exited the roadway. It crossed into the right hand median, crossed the east service road, and ended up down in a ravine east of the highway.
Careflite Air responded to the scene and flew the injured man to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. The two occupants of the second vehicle were transported to hospitals by Careflite Ground Ambulance. At this time, no injuries appear to be life threatening. The accident caused IH35W, northbound, to be shut down for approximately 30-45 minutes to allow a safe landing area for the helicopter and while officers investigated the crash. All lanes have since reopened.”
