Earlier 3 Alarm Fire (Ft Worth)
Delayed Post (Ft Worth) Around 6:45 this morning, Ft Worth Fire Engine 8 was dispatched to a automatic fire alarm call at a high rise located at 550 S Summit Avenue, reported at the Westchester Plaze Apartments. Upon arrival Engine 8 found smoke and fire on the 4 floor and began extinguishment and evacuation operations. An immediate second alarm was requested to assist with evacuation and fire operations. The sprinkler system contained the fire to the room of origin, but smoke was throughout the building and eventually a third alarm assignment was requested to the scene. MedStar had multiple ambulances on scene and many area hospitals were put on alert as a precaution as a reported 250+ people were being evacuated. One civilian was transported by Medstar to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of smoke inhaliation. No other injuries were reported.
