Show your Rig #84 – Mesquite Fire Fighters Assoc. 1518 – A 1944 American LaFrance Ladder Truck. – This truck served Washington DC from 1944-1959 as Truck Company no 1, protecting the White House. In 1959 the City of Mesquite purchased it for $5000. It served the City until 1977 when it was sold at auction. In 2003 it was rediscovered in Lamesa Texas in disrepair sitting in a barn. The “boot” was passed by the members of the Mesquite Fire Fighters Assoc. L-1518 and the truck was purchased and began its long process of restoration. On March 31, 2012, after 9 years of hard work the ’44 ALF again drove in prominence in the annual Mesquite Rodeo Parade! You don’t have to work in fire, police or EMS to send us your photos.
