Child Drowning Prevention

Child Drowning Prevention #2 – With lake and swimming pool season coming fast teaching your children to swim is a great idea. What most don’t know though is that even babies as young as 6 months old can be taught techniques for water survival. Here are a couple of links to Infant Swimming Resource. They have certified instructors who teach kids 6 months old to 6 years old techniques to self rescue themselves or keep themselves from drowning. My 3 year old daughter has been doing this for only a week and is already able to swim a couple of feet under water to grab the side of the pool and pull herself up. It’s well worth the money and although the first few times in the water is stressful on both kids and parents, its better than drowning because they didn’t know. It happens all the time and if more people had this training we could reduce the amount of child drownings. Here is a video: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nI_XzNfxjlY

And here is the ISR Website: http://www.infantswim.com/

Check out their website and read about these life-saving lessons! Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children under 4 years old in the US. To date ISR has delivered more than 7 million lessons and saved over 800 lives!
