Hot Pursuit Update
A quick update on the armed bank robbery/police chase from Grandview to the south Mansfield area. The bad guys are in custody and all officers are going home safe. #BackTheBlue
Johnson County Sheriffs Office: At 12:02 p.m. Johnson County Sheriff Dispatchers received a call concerning an armed robbery at the Grandview Bank, at 105 N. Criner. A single suspect went into the bank and pulled handgun on the teller. Wearing a hat and bandanna attempting to hide his identity.
Grandview Police Officer Alberto Sanchez was in the area and was the first officer to get in on the initial pursuit. Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies joined the pursuit followed by Alvarado, and Mansfield as the chase continued.
At 12:39 p.m. the vehicle was crashed in trees on Davis Street in Mansfield. After a brief struggle, a father (41) and daughter (17) were taken into custody. A Smith & Wesson semiautomatic handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
The chase went through Grandview to Alvarado to Venus up 157 to U.S. 287 then to Broad Street at speeds up to 150 MPH then ended at 360 and Davis Street. The suspects will be brought to the Johnson County Jail while the FBI is en route to the bank.
Sheriff Alford would like to Thank all the agencies and officers involved. The suspects are in custody and no one was injured.
