Updated forecast includes freezing rain chances for DFW on Wednesday & Thursday

As we noted earlier this week, the forecast for wintry weather continues to change as additional information is gathered. We are starting to get a more narrow, detailed look at when we could see winter precipitation.

The greatest potential for wintry weather and travel impacts extends just to the west of the immediate DFW Metroplex and up to the Red River. At this time, it appears areas in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex could see wintry weather in the form of freezing rain on Wednesday AND Thursday. Earlier forecasts were focusing on Wednesday, but the chance now extends into Thursday.

WEDNESDAY: Freezing rain is possible on Wednesday morning and evening. Temperatures are projected to hover around the freezing level.

THURSDAY: A freezing rain and snow mix is possible throughout the day on Thursday where temperatures will also hover, or dip below, freezing.

The NWS Fort Worth has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Denton, Wise, Parker counties and areas to the west and north. The advisory does not include the DFW Metroplex.

Please continue to monitor the forecast as additional changes are likely.
