DFW Scanner Nightly Recap: January 7, 2019
It was a busy Monday here in DFW. Here’s a rundown of the day’s news if you are just now catching up.
Midlothian Police and Fire/EMS responded to a major crash this morning involving a vehicle and a trash truck. One person was killed on the scene. Read the original report here.
Saginaw FD along with Haslet FD, Eagle Mountain FD, Fort Worth FD, Lake Worth FD, and potentially others all responded to a vacant two-story house fire. The residence was nearly toast when the fire department arrived. Heavy black smoke was seen across the northern part of the Metroplex. Read the original report here.
North Richland Hills FD along with Richland Hills FD and Hurst FD responded to an apartment fire this afternoon. NRHFD found heavy smoke and fire showing from the two-story apartment building. The fire has been extinguished. Read the original report here.
Fort Worth PD closed all directions and lanes of Interstate 30 earlier this afternoon while they worked to apprehend suspects from a possible police chase. The vehicle had stopped along eastbound I30 near Sandy Lane when the standoff began. SWAT was called, prompting a very heavy police presence. The highway has been reopened. Irving Police and Fire responded to a major accident early this evening on northbound Loop 12 near Irving Blvd. An 18 wheeler struck the overpass, sending debris all over the roadway and damaging the road. Northbound lanes were closed for multiple hours. Read the original report here.
