Annual ‘Medal of Honor’ motorcade to take place Wednesday afternoon

The annual Medal of Honor motorcade will take place tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. Traffic delays are expected as the 8+ mile long procession of motorcycles and emergency vehicles escorts the Medal of Honor recipients to an event in Gainesville, Texas.

The procession is expected to leave DFW International Airport between 4pm – 5pm and arrived in Gainesville about an hour later. The planned route includes Highway 114 from DFW Airport (Grapevine area) to I35W in the Roanoke area, and north on I35W to Gainesville. If your travel plans include this route on Wednesday afternoon, you may experience delays.

The annual Medal of Honor motorcade escorts recipients of the military’s highest and most prestigious award up to Gainesville for Medal of Honor Host City Week 2019. In 2001, Gainesville, TX was established as the only city in the country to host our nation’s most decorated heroes to promote patriotism and celebrate the heroism of these individuals.

Please be courteous and respectful to the procession. Emergency responders and other civilians will be lining the roadway on bridges and overpasses to show their thanks to these heroes. Watch out for them!
