UPDATE: Garland firefighters working extended extrication crash involving overturned cement truck

Multiple emergency responders from the Garland Fire and Police departments are working a serious crash involving an overturned cement truck at Highway 78 and the President George Bush Turnpike near the Firewheel Town Center.

Over an hour ago, firefighters and other responders were called to the scene regarding the accident. It was determined one person was trapped and extrication began.

Extrication is still in progress. The patient is still alive at this time.

CareFlite from Dallas has responded and landed on Highway 78 near the scene. The helicopter has shut down its rotors awaiting for the patient removal.

It is best to avoid this area until the scene has been cleaned up. Richardson FD and Rowlett FD are also on the scene.

*Update – Extrication has been completed at this time. Garland paramedics are transporting the patient over to the helicopter.

Update – Extrication completed. CareFlite has airlifted the patient to Medical City Plano.
