UPDATE: Child brings two magazines, ammunition to school, prompting lockdown
A quick update to the story we posted earlier today.
According to an update provided by Red Oak PD, officers discovered two (2) Glock 43 pistol magazines and eight (8) rounds of 9mm ammunition from the bathroom at the Life School Elementary Charter School.
At around 2:00pm this afternoon, a parent of one of the students called Red Oak Police Department and informed them his child had taken two spare pistol magazines and ammunition to school. The father advised police that the actual firearm had remained secure in his personal safe at his residence. He is cooperating with the investigation.
Multiple agencies were involved in this investigation including Red Oak PD and FD, Red Oak ISD PD, Northern Ellis Emergency Dispatch, Ferris ISD PD, Ovilla PD, Glenn Heights PD, Midlothian PD, Waxahachie PD, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Public Safety troopers, and the Arlington Fire Department.
Red Oak Police had secured the building and ordered a lockdown after the ammunition was discovered inside the bathroom. Children were moved out of the school and into an adjacent church.
