UPDATE: FWPD SWAT officer shoots and kills armed suspect from domestic disturbance
The Fort Worth Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding an officer involved shooting yesterday evening in the 5700 block of 6th Ave.
Officers were called to the scene just after 6:30pm regarding a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, the suspect pointed a weapon at officers and barricaded himself in the residence.
The department’s SWAT team was called in to help bring the suspect into custody. SWAT arrived and attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender. During the standoff, the suspect exited the residence and “presented a threat to officers.” Another law enforcement official says the suspect was armed with an AK-47; however, FWPD did not list the weapon type it its release.
At this time, a Fort Worth PD SWAT officer shot and killed the suspect. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
He has been identified as a 38-year-old male.
