Two teenagers latest victims of recent Dallas homicides

Two teenagers have lost their lives in Dallas this week, both shot and killed in unrelated incidents.

Dallas police officers responded to a shooting around midnight Tuesday in the 300 block of N. Akard Street and found a 17-year-old male shot multiple times. He was discovered in a vehicle at a downtown Dallas parking lot. DFR transported the victim to a local hospital, but he died.

The Dallas Police Department responded to a shooting yesterday evening in the 9500 block of Bruton Road. A 14-year-old bystander was shot after two suspects were exchanging gunfire in the area. The victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. This is an ongoing investigation.

Both of these shootings, resulting in the deaths of a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old, highlight the heightened homicide offenses taking place across the city of Dallas. Last month alone there were 40 reported homicide offenses. In response, Dallas has beefed up their homicide unit.
