There have been unconfirmed reports regarding the incident last night involving Tarrant County sheriffs deputy Keith Shepherd. What we do know: officers responded to an officer down with initial reports indicating he had been shot. He was transported to a Harris downtown where he died from his injuries.
Police are now saying the deputy may not have been shot. He was found at his vehicle with significant head injuries indicative of a possible gunshot wound; however, an official cause of death will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Blood was found inside and outside of the vehicle, and the windows were not broken.
There are still a lot of details being sorted out. Fort Worth PD is investigating this incident.
We will publish information from officials once it is released. We continue to send our prayers to the family of Sgt. Keith Shepherd and his fellow deputies at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.
