Shots fired at Federal Building in downtown Dallas [updates at the end]

Multiple Dallas Police officers and other law enforcement agencies are on scene of a reported shots fired situation in downtown Dallas at the Federal Building.

Heavy police presence in the area. One person is being transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue to Baylor Hospital, unknown severity of injuries.

This is taking place in the heart of downtown Dallas near the 1100 block of Commerce Street. Officers are also referencing Jackson and Griffin intersection. Officers are discussing a possible suspect vehicle at this intersection. A bomb dog is on the scene.

Police are talking to multiple witnesses at the scene.

A TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) has been requested as media helicopters are over the scene causing a distraction.

It is best to completely avoid this area.

Update – Dallas PD says a suspect is in custody at this time. They are requesting everyone avoid the Earl Cabel Federal Building at this time as officers process and secure the scene.

Update – Officers are now focusing their attention on the suspect’s possible vehicle near the Lamar St. and Jackson St. area. Evacuating people in the immediate area and requesting people to completely avoid the scene.

Update – An EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team is on the scene and will be investigating the suspect’s vehicle. Any loud bangs heard in the immediate area is due to the ongoing investigation with the suspect’s vehicle.

Update – Dallas Police say there was an “exchange of gunfire” between a suspect and federal police officers. The suspect was shot and transported to the hospital. No officers or civilians have been injured.

Update – Officials say the suspect has died at the hospital after being shot during the incident. A photo shows the suspect armed with a long gun and multiple high capacity magazines.
