Ellis County sheriffs say 11-month-old child found deceased in vehicle

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency responders were called to the scene of an unresponsive person last Friday afternoon in the 500 block of Elm Street (Bardwell).

When deputies arrived, they located an 11-month-old female child who had been located inside of a vehicle at the property. She was not breathing.

Responding deputies responded quickly and began CPR. They continued CPR until patient care was handed over to Ellis County EMS (AMR). Medical personnel made the decision to cease CPR due to the severity of injuries. The child was declared deceased on the scene.

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting an investigation into the death of the child. They will be assisted by the Texas Rangers.

This is an ongoing investigation.

There was also a child located in a vehicle last week at a residence in Aubrey. The child was flown to the hospital, but died as a result of the injuries.

Unfortunately, these incidents tend to uptick as we move through the summer months. It is important to note that the investigations into both of these situations are still in progress, but it goes without saying: please pay attention to kids and always have an eye on them, whether at the pool or in the car. Texas summers are a beating, especially for the young and the old. Please keep your children safe this summer and avoid tragedy!
