Lanes of PGBT reopened following wrong-way double fatal crash
DPS troopers have reopened the westbound lanes of PGBT near Shiloh Road in Garland following an overnight wrong-way crash that claimed the lives of both drivers.
At around 2:30am this morning, DPS troopers were on a traffic stop along eastbound PGBT near Shiloh Road. While conducting the traffic stop, they were notified of a wrong-way driver approaching the area traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of PGBT. Troopers saw the vehicle coming in from the west, and ran over to the barriers in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but they were unsuccessful.
The vehicle traveling the wrong way struck a westbound vehicle head-on, causing serious damage to the vehicle and killing the driver of the wrong-way vehicle. The driver of the westbound vehicle was transported to Medical City Plano and pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation reveals the wrong-way vehicle u-turned at PGBT and Midway, and began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of travel. The crash is still under investigation at this time. No other details are available.
