UPDATE: Dallas Police confirm remains found believed to be missing 18-month-old

The Dallas Police Department has confirmed reports that remains found at a Rowlett landfill are believed to be Cedric Jackson, the missing 18-month-old child.

The remains have been taken to the coroner’s office to determine cause of death.

Police have arrested Sedrick Johnson, 27-year-old male, for injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. Other charges are pending the outcome of the coroner’s report. Johnson is the boyfriend of the aunt who had temporary custody of the child.

Police questioned Johnson about the case, who admitted to placing the child in a dumpster in northeast Dallas. The dumpster was emptied at least twice, which led police to the landfill. They located the remains around 11am today.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
