UPDATE: Suspect in custody, now dead, after active shooter incident in west Fort Worth
Fort Worth police have taken a suspect into custody from an active shooter incident in the 2900 block of Broadmoor Drive.
Multiple police were called to the scene of a person with a weapon at the apartments around 11:22am this morning. Shots were heard coming from the complex.
Officers have made entry into the apartment, and have taken the suspect into custody. Police say the suspect was using a child as a shield when officers originally made entry into the apartment. Police report this was a hostage situation.
When SWAT arrived on scene, they struck the suspect with gunfire.
No injuries to hostages are reported at this time. The shooter was transported by EMS to a local hospital, and pronounced deceased.
