Teenager critically injured in Irving dog attack
The Irving Police Department says a 16-year-old male was critically injured in an early morning dog attack in Irving.
At 4:45AM, Irving PD responded to an incident in the 800 block of E. Third Street. When officers arrived, they located three dogs attacking a male in the backyard of a house. The officers quickly intervened by jumping the fence.
The dogs started attacking the officers, forcing the officers to fire their weapons at the dogs. One officer was injured by the dogs and treated at the scene.
The victim, identified as a 16-year-old male, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The dogs were seized and taken to the animal shelter.
Police say the dogs were secure in their backyard, and the victim does not live at the residence.
