One person airlifted from severe overnight crash in Watauga
Watauga FD/EMS and PD responded to serious crash overnight in the 6200 block of Denton Highway (377) near Fannin Street at around 1:30AM.
They arrived to find one vehicle with severe damage. The engine compartment was also on fire. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, extrication was required to free one occupant from the vehicle.
CareFlite air medical was called to the scene for air transport. Lanes of Denton Highway were closed to allow for a safe landing zone for the helicopter.
The occupant was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
