UPDATE: Mesquite police shoot armed man after vehicle pursuit into Dallas

The Dallas Police Department has released a statement regarding the officer involved shooting that occurred in their city earlier this afternoon. Although it occurred in the city of Dallas, the agency involved is the Mesquite Police Department.

At around 3:48PM this afternoon, Dallas PD responded to an agency assist with the Mesquite PD in the 6000 block of Lovett Ave.

It was determined that Mesquite PD had initiated a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in the city of Mesquite that led them into the city of Dallas. Once in Dallas, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers gave chase and observed the suspect wielding a handgun. During the chase and apprehension, shots were fired.

The suspect was struck by gunfire. He was transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, but in stable condition.

Police did recover the suspect’s weapon. An investigation is still ongoing.
