Armed man shot after encounter with Dallas Police

The Dallas Police Department responded to a shots fired call around 1:36AM this morning at the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Noel Road. While officers responded, they were told the man continued to fire shots into the ground.

Dallas PD arrived on scene and began to confront the man, who was standing in the middle of the intersection armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

Commands were given for the man to drop his weapon, but he did not do so. Police fired non-lethal rounds, striking the armed subject at least one. But the man continued to advance on officers.

After commands were not followed a second time, one officer fired a shot and struck the man. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.
