Lake Worth police arrest Fort Worth murder suspect during traffic stop

The Lake Worth Police Department conducted a routine traffic stop on Thursday evening in the 6900 block of Jim Wright Freeway. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.

Lake Worth PD says the driver gave a false name, but officers eventually identified him as a murder suspect out of Fort Worth. The suspect, identified as a 27-year-old man, was arrested and booked into the Tarrant County jail on Friday.

According to Fort Worth police, he was wanted for the murder of a 24-year-old male found shot and killed in the 3100 block of Las Vegas Trail. The shooting occurred back on August 5, 2019. Officers were in the area and heard gunshots. They immediately went towards a gas station and were directed to a parking lot and field nearby, where they found the victim. He was transported to the hospital, but died of gunshot wounds to the torso.

The suspect is currently in jail with a $250,000 bond.
