Dallas firefighters respond to commercial fire in northwest Dallas; one firefighter injured

Dallas firefighters responded to a commercial building on fire at 10945 Composite Drive just before 11:30PM last night.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire showing from the one-story commercial building. Officials say the building, which sits just off the I35E service road, is vacant.

The fire had already escalated throughout the building and quickly peeked through the roof, causing firefighters to take a defensive posture. A 2nd alarm was called to the scene. Overall, approximately 40-50 firefighters worked to contain the fire.

The fire was brought under control around four hours later.

During the fight, one of the firefighters sustained a burn injury. The injury was non-life-threatening. He has since been released from the hospital and is expected to be OK.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
