Man struck, killed by flying tire from crash in Dallas
The Dallas Police Department is investigating the death of a man who was reportedly struck by a flying tire from a high speed crash in the Oak Cliff area of south Dallas.
Police say a 46-year-old man was driving southbound on Marsalis at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a parked vehicle at the given location. A front tire from the vehicle he hit detached from the car and struck a resident standing on the sidewalk in front of his house.
Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as a 75-year-old resident.
The driver of the speeding vehicle ran away after the crash, but he was arrested a short time later. He has been charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid.
