Man arrested for killing his girlfriend and her son in Denton county
The Aubrey Police Department is investigating the shooting deaths of a woman and her 18-year-old son.
Officials were called to a home in the Providence Village area of Denton County at around 3:00AM yesterday morning. A man had called police to inform them that he had shot and killed his girlfriend at her house in the 9200 block of Blackstone Drive.
As officers arrived on the scene, the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Cory Washington, walked outside and police arrested him. He was taken to the Denton County jail and booked on a Capital Murder charge.
Paramedics responded to the scene after officers located the first victim, identified as a 36-year-old woman, in the front yard of a neighboring residence. The woman’s son, identified as an 18-year-old man, was found inside the house. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Although the Medical Examiner has not publicly released the cause of death, Aubrey PD indicates both sustained gunshot wounds.
The motive of the shooting is currently under investigation.
Washington’s bond has been set at $1,000,000.
