Driver killed after car hits wall and oncoming train in Mansfield

The Mansfield Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred early in the morning on Sunday, August 1st.

At around 4:00am, Mansfield Fire/EMS and Police responded to the 100 block of South 287 Service Road near Broad Street for a vehicle crash.

Officials say a driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed his vehicle into a concrete barrier. The impact of the collision caused him to be ejected. The crashed vehicle was then hit by an oncoming train.

Paramedics pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 41-year-old man from Watauga.

No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.
