Waxahachie ISD students involved in serious crash; one killed, others seriously hurt

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred in a Waxahachie neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.

At around 2:30pm, multiple emergency responders from ESD #6 and Ellis County EMS were called to a crash at 122 Shoreside Trail north of Waxahachie.

Traffic investigators say the driver of a vehicle lost control of the vehicle while making a right curve in the roadway. The vehicle drove off the road and hit a culvert, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities say there were five other passengers in the vehicle, all sustaining serious injuries. At least two occupants were flown to hospitals in Dallas and one transported by ground ambulance. Their conditions have not been released.

Waxahachie ISD put out a statement yesterday on their social media, reading: “It is with great sadness that we have learned multiple Waxahachie ISD students were involved in a car accident this afternoon. While we are unable to share any information about the accident at this time, we ask that you please join the entire Waxahachie ISD family in praying for the young people involved in the accident, as well as their families, friends, and teachers.”

The investigation is ongoing.
