Couple arrested after fleeing fatal ATV crash near Eagle Mountain Lake

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred late Thursday night in the 6400 block of Peden Road near Eagle Mountain Lake.

At 10:43pm, multiple emergency responders were called to the scene at Peden Road and Paper Shell Way. Sheriff’s deputies located a Polaris all terrain vehicle that had crashed off the roadway. One of the occupants, a 50-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 59-year-old man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that a pickup truck had been involved in the crash and fled the scene. Officers were able to track down the pickup at a nearby residence and take a man and a woman into custody for charges of Accident involving Death and Tampering / Fabricating Evidence, respectively.

The two occupants of the ATV lived on Paper Shell Way across the street from where the pickup truck and suspects were located, according to public records. It appears the victims of the crash and the suspects are neighbors.
