Speed and intoxication may be factors in fatal Arlington crash, police say

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatality accident that occurred late Sunday evening along Interstate 30 near Highway 360.

Just before 11:00pm, multiple emergency responders from the Arlington Fire Department, Police Department, and Arlington EMS were called to a two vehicle crash with injuries on the highway.

Officials say a vehicle had become disabled in the fast lane of traffic. The driver was unable to pull over on the shoulder due to construction in the area, so he initiated the flashing hazard lights so other drivers could pull over.

Another vehicle traveling at highway speeds rear-ended the disabled vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle who hit the disabled vehicle was transported to a local hospital by Arlington EMS, but pronounced deceased. The driver of the disabled vehicle was not seriously hurt.

Investigators have not ruled out speed and intoxication as possible causative factors for this crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
