Wrong way driver severely hurt in Denton County crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that occurred Saturday night along Highway 114 in Denton County.

At 10:09pm, several agencies including the Justin Fire Department and DPS troopers were called to the westbound lanes of Highway 114 near Ben Bert Road, approximately two miles west of FM 156.

Authorities say a 50-year-old man was driving the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of the highway when he caused a crash that involved four vehicles.

A PHI air ambulance was called to the scene and airlifted the wrong way driver to Medical City Denton with severe injuries. Another driver involved in the crash was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. No one else was seriously hurt.

Westbound 114 was closed for a few hours while troopers investigated the scene. The crash has since been cleared.
