One driver killed, four others flown to hospitals following fiery crash in Collin County
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred at this morning on FM 6 in Collin County.
At around 10:04am, Nevada FD, Josephine FD, Collin County EMS, and multiple law enforcement were dispatched to the scene on FM 6 just east of Highway 78 in the Nevada area.
First responders located two vehicles had collided in a head-on collision. At least one vehicle was on fire with people trapped inside.
DPS says one of the drivers was pronounced deceased at the scene. A total of four others, including one adult and three children, were all flown to hospitals with major injuries. CareFlite, PHI, and Air Evac Lifeteam helicopters were all called to the scene.
Investigators are working to determine which driver crossed over the center line to cause the crash.
Lanes of FM 6 have been closed for most of the day while law enforcement investigates the scene.
