Arlington firefighters working to determine cause of townhome explosion in Viridian community

Members of the Arlington Fire Department are investigating an explosion that occurred overnight at a townhome under construction in the Viridian community.
At 1:46am, Arlington police received multiple 9-1-1 calls of a loud explosion heard in north Arlington. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and located a building with severe damage and active fire near the 4100 block of Viridian Village Drive.
Arlington firefighters were able to contain the fire to the original building. Surrounding townhomes received damage from the blast.
Authorities indicate there are no known life-threatening injuries. The townhome was under construction and unoccupied at the time of the explosion.
The scene is still active as investigators work to determine the cause.
