Intoxicated teenager causes serious 4-vehicle crash in Johnson County

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a serious crash that occurred Thursday morning along Farm to Market Road 917 near Maxey Road in Johnson County.

At 10:25am, multiple emergency responders were called to the scene and located four vehicles with major damage.

Investigators say a 17-year-old girl was driving an SUV when she veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a pickup truck. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash after the initial impact.

The driver of the pickup truck hit head-on by the teen driver was seriously injured. A second driver involved in the crash was also seriously injured. They were both airlifted to area hospitals. As of Friday morning, there is no update on their conditions.

Police determined the 17-year-old girl who caused the crash was intoxicated at the time of the collision. She was subsequently arrested on three counts of Intoxication Assault, a 3rd degree felony.

Lanes of FM 917 were closed while police cleared the scene.
