Apartment building destroyed, six homes damaged after wind-driven fire in Dallas

At 1:44am this morning, Dallas Fire Rescue crews responded to an apartment fire in the 3400 block of Hidalgo Drive in northwest Dallas. First arriving firefighters found heavy fire showing from the vacant apartment building.

Wind gusts up to 50MPH resulted in a fast spread of the fire throughout the entire building. The fire escalated to 3 alarms.

Embers from the large fire were driven by high winds and sparked fires in the adjacent neighborhood. A total of six homes suffered damage, including residences on Larga Drive, Fontana Drive, and Espanola Drive. One home on Larga Drive suffered major damage. Another home lost an RV/camper behind the home.

Thankfully there were no injuries from these fires.
