UPDATE: Denton police investigating threats at Denton HS and Ryan HS
The Denton Police Department is currently investigating “unsubstantiated threats” at both Denton High School and Ryan High School. As a result of these threats, the campuses have been placed on lockdown.
According to the sergeant who oversees the SRO division (School Resource Officer), information indicates these threats are not credible.
“This individual has been putting information out on Snapchat on schools across the United States, mostly here in Texas,” Sgt. Bradford said to Ryan High School parents.
Police are doing a systematic search of the school, room by room, to ensure there is no shooter in the building.
All students are locked down inside the schools. Reunification will occur after the search has concluded.
There was not a shooting and no shots were fired. Some reported hearing gunshots, but it was an officer kicking in the door to a bathroom stall.
DPS-101 helicopter has been circling the campuses for aerial support.
Guyer High School is also on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
At this time, no injuries have been reported.
Updates to follow.
