Elderly woman dies in Dallas house fire

The Dallas Fire Rescue is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred overnight in the 1400 block of Briar Cliff Road.

At 3:40am this morning, Dallas firefighters were called to a house fire at the given location. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire showing from the one story home. They were met with reports of a woman trapped inside.

A 2nd alarm was called to the scene as firefighters went into rescue mode. Unfortunately the found the body of an elderly resident deceased in a bedroom. The woman’s daughter, who was also home when the fire started, was able to get out of the house.

A neighbor attempted to rescue the woman before firefighters arrived, but was unsuccessful due to the intensity of the fire.

Fire Investigators believe the fire began in the bedroom and spread into the attic space before firefighters were able to knock it down. However, the cause of the fire will be listed as undetermined pending a final ruling, from the Dallas County Medical Examiner, on the victim’s cause of death.
