NEW: Man hid in 18-wheeler wind deflector for nearly 500 miles before fatal incident in Midlothian

The Midlothian Police Department has released an update regarding the fatal incident from last Friday night, May 27.
As reported on DFW Scanner, Midlothian police responded to a person laying in the middle of Railport Parkway near Highway 67 last night Friday just before 10:00pm. When emergency personnel arrived, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators located surveillance footage showing the victim, a 51-year-old man, climbing onto an 18-wheeler at a fueling station in Edinburg, Texas, a city in the Rio Grande Valley. He hid in the semi truck’s wind deflector for nearly 500 miles as the truck operator traveled nonstop to a Target distribution center in Midlothian. When the truck operator exited Railport Parkway, it is believed the man attempted to get off the 18-wheeler, but was overrun by the semi’s rear wheels.
The driver of the semi truck was unaware the man had climbed onto his truck. He is currently cooperating with investigators.
The investigation is ongoing and the case will be forwarded to the Ellis County District Attorney’s Office for review.
