Two drivers killed in Cresson crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released additional information regarding a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Cresson.
At approximately 7:00am, Cresson FD, Texas EMS, and multiple law enforcement all responded to the scene on Highway 171 near the railroad tracks.
Investigators say the driver of a northbound pickup truck failed to properly negotiate a curve in the roadway, causing him to overcorrect and slide into the southbound lanes. The sliding vehicle hit a second vehicle head-on. The truck bed of the first vehicle detached and struck a third vehicle which was also southbound on the highway.
The driver of the northbound pickup truck, identified as a 30-year-old man from Waller, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle, identified as a 30-year-old man from Granbury, was also pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the third vehicle was not seriously injured.
The crash closed a portion of Highway 171 north of Cresson.
