UPDATE: Firefighters rescue two workers trapped under Fort Worth school

At approximately 5:40pm this evening, members of the Fort Worth Fire Department, Northeast Fire Department Association (Tarrant County), and other specialized rescue teams were called to the Treetops School International for a rescue situation.

Fire officials say two people were working on a slab leak at the school when the mud collapsed in on their hole. They were approximately 15′ up under the building, officials say.

Multiple rescue crews worked for just over an hour to free the two trapped individuals. The pair was safely rescued around 7:15pm.

The workers did not appear to be injured, but they were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Numerous fire departments responded to the scene. Pipeline Road was shut down just east of Industrial Blvd while crews worked the incident.
