NEW: Child injured in drive-by shooting at North Richland Hills home

The North Richland Hills Police Department has released an update regarding the shooting investigation in the 6500 block of Jerrell Street.

At around 7:45pm Wednesday evening, North Richland Hills police responded to reports of gunshots and an injured child at the given location. When officers arrived, they located a crime scene and shell casings, but no victim.

The suspect(s) drove by and fired several shots into the house from the outside. Police say an 8-year-old female was struck by a bullet while she was inside the home. Her parents took her directly to the hospital. Her injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening. No other family members were injured.

Criminal investigators are actively investigating the crime scene. No suspect(s) is in custody at this time.
