Dallas officer, murder suspect injured in Oak Cliff shootout

A Dallas police officer is recovering after being shot in an exchange of gunfire with a murder suspect.

Officers from the Fugitive Unit were executing an arrest warrant when they located the murder suspect in a vehicle at 2500 Bahama Drive.

Officers gave verbal commands for the driver and passenger (murder suspect) to exit the vehicle. The driver followed commands and was detained by police. The passenger however exited the vehicle with a weapon and fired shots at officers, hitting one in the foot. The suspect was hit at least once.

Paramedics transported both to the hospital. The officer will recover; however, the suspect remains in critical condition.
