Fort Worth officer seriously hurt after jumping out of way of rogue driver

A Fort Worth police officer is recovering in a local ICU after being injured while assisting a stranded driver.

At 11:19pm Friday evening, Fort Worth police officers were dispatched to a stalled food truck on a ramp at the I35W and North Loop 820 interchange.

One of the officers had established a line of flares to assist with traffic control when a driver disregarded the flare line and drove towards the officer. The officer jumped out of the way and fell a long distance off the ramp.

The officer sustained multiple traumatic injuries and has already had one surgery, according to reports.

It is unknown if the driver was arrested.

We send our thoughts and prayers to the officer as he recovers.
