Man armed with machete shot, killed by McKinney police
At 5:17am this morning, McKinney PD received the first of several 9-1-1 calls regarding an ongoing disturbance involving an armed man at the American Inn Motel, 205 W. University Drive.
When McKinney officers arrived, they located the suspect and observed he was armed with a machete.
Officers gave multiple commands to drop the weapon, but the suspect did not comply. The suspect advanced towards the officers, leading them to shoot the man.
Paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital, but he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation into this officer involved shooting is ongoing.
